As a Manager, you’ll bring your growing expertise in AWS to bear on complex, real-world client challenges, working alongside experienced principals and architects to design and deliver solutions that are robust, scalable, and aligned to what our clients actually need.

As an AWS Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality AWS solutions, platforms and pipelines.
  • Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment and maintenance.
  • Engage and provide technical insight during system design.
  • Write well documented code and contribute to technical documentation.
  • Proactively troubleshoot issues, maintain the smooth operation of live services, and play a key role in resolving complex production issues.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and AWS services, including Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Q Business, to enhance client capabilities and foster innovation.
  • Actively contribute to the engineering community.
  • Contribute to technical pre-sales activity, including the development of bid documentation, RFIs, RFPs, and participation in client presentations, helping Deloitte win and shape the engagements of tomorrow.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Deloitte's AWS capabilities, methodologies, and intellectual property.

The following are the core skills and experience expected to be successful in this role:

  • Solid and demonstrable experience in IT infrastructure and cloud engineering or architecture, with a deep working knowledge of compute, storage, networking, and cloud management principles applied in professional delivery contexts.
  • A track record of designing, building, and maintaining cloud-based platforms and infrastructure, with a focus on AWS.
  • Hands on experience with AWS, including practical delivery across core services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon EKS, Amazon RDS, Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, Amazon VPC, AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), AWS Lambda, and AWS App Runner or AWS Fargate.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform (including AWS), AWS CloudFormation, or the AWS Cloud Development Kit (AWS CDK).
  • Background in CI/CD pipeline design and automation using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, or similar.
  • Understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments, including AWS-specific best practices.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, the ELK stack, Amazon CloudWatch, and AWS X-Ray).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimise workloads for performance, cost, and reliability on AWS.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate certification, or active progress towards it, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining current and validated technical expertise.

The following will be desirable skills:

  • Professional or specialty level AWS certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate, reflecting depth of technical knowledge across complex platform domains.
  • Knowledge of site reliability engineering (SRE) principles and practices.
  • Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, or AWS Certified Security – Specialty) are a plus.
  • Hands on experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling, particularly Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK, and a substantial appreciation for repeatable, version-controlled, and auditable provisioning practices.
  • Familiarity with hybrid and multi-cloud architecture, including experience integrating on-premises environments with AWS.
  • Working knowledge of AI and ML services on AWS, with a clear understanding of how platforms such as Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Bedrock, and Amazon Q Business can be positioned to drive measurable client outcomes.
  • Experience with AWS billing, cost management, and optimisation, including services such as AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and AWS Cost and Usage Reports.
  • Exposure to data engineering or analytics workloads on AWS, such as AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Athena, Amazon Kinesis, Amazon SNS, or Amazon SQS, with an ability to contribute meaningfully to data-driven client programmes alongside specialist data teams.
  • Ability, and willingness to undergo UK National Security Vetting processes.
  • Active, or readily transferable, security clearances are highly desirable.
