New Direction with Your HSBC Career

If you’re looking to take an exciting new direction with your HSBC career, an internal move can open the door to many opportunities, allowing you to take on a new challenge, and develop your skills. Bring your knowledge of our brand to a new role and grow yourself further.

Take the next step in your HSBC career by joining Global Complex Investigations. These roles offer the opportunity to lead sensitive, high-profile investigations, influence senior decision-making and help strengthen the Group’s response to financial crime.

We are seeking three experienced professionals to join us as Senior Managers in Global Complex Investigations. Successful candidates will sit within either the Complex Money Laundering Investigations team, which leads complex and intelligence-led investigations into suspected money laundering and related financial crime, or the Internal Controls Investigations team, which leads complex internal investigations and examines significant control concerns.

Financial Crime

Financial Crime is a Second Line of Defence function that independently oversees and challenges how the Group’s businesses manage financial crime risk. It also operates critical controls using intelligence, analytics, technology, detection and investigation capabilities. Its remit includes fraud, money laundering, bribery and corruption, sanctions and export control violations, terrorist and proliferation financing, and tax evasion. The function operates under HSBC’s Risk Management Framework and partners with the First Line of Defence LOD to support effective risk management. This move will allow you to broaden your experience while continuing to benefit from tailored professional development and HSBC’s benefits package.

Your Role

In this role you will:

  • Lead high-profile, complex and intelligence-led financial crime investigations across countries and regions, including matters involving fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, and bribery and corruption.
  • Set clear investigative strategies and ensure cases are prioritised, resourced, governed and escalated appropriately.
  • Analyse transaction data, open-source intelligence and internal records to identify financial crime typologies, emerging threats and control weaknesses.
  • Deliver clear, evidence-based findings and recommendations that strengthen controls and support senior management decision-making.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise across Financial Crime Investigations and Compliance, contributing to policy, procedures, training, analytics, regulatory responses and the governance of follow-on actions.
  • Build trusted relationships with Compliance colleagues, law enforcement, security and regulatory agencies, and financial intelligence units to support effective information-sharing and coordinated action.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
