About The Role

Are you an experienced engineering leader who is passionate about driving operational excellence and continuous improvement? Reporting to the Head of Operations, this is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop our Manufacturing Engineering and Operations teams, delivering innovative engineering solutions that enhance productivity, quality, and performance. Combining strong technical knowledge of mechanical design and materials with a hands-on leadership approach, you'll champion a culture of continuous improvement, support the development of your team, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future success of our manufacturing operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

Safety and Environmental Compliance

  • Proactively promote a safety first, positive and collaborative team culture
  • Support risk assessments as necessary, providing technical guidance
  • Lead HSE investigations to ensure a safe working environment
  • Ensure all new tooling, equipment, and processes brought into the business meet compliance at all stages of development to production use

Production Support

  • Ensure manufacturing readiness of existing product lines, providing resourcing plans where thresholds are not met
  • Develop and enhance training packages for production needs
  • Support the MRB process to minimize cost and maximize improvement in first pass yield
  • Design replacement tooling with a fast turnaround to minimize production downtime
  • Conduct DOE to optimize processes with yield, capability, and cycle time at the core
  • Utilize PFMEA, control plans, and SPC to standardize output
  • Act as SME representing the company in discussions with suppliers

Process Development

  • Design processes to be safe from introduction ensuring minimized waste
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is in place before handover to production
  • Validate processes to ensure process repeatability implementing relevant control measures to maintain consistent standards
  • Lead from concept to handover ensuring all measures of SQDC are considered prior to project kick-off and ensuring delivery to standard
  • Conduct FAT and SAT to ensure right first time for introduction

Team Development

  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical support to fellow Manufacturing Engineers
  • Lead process improvement reviews, providing constructive feedback for right first time
  • Develop and implement improvements for maximum efficiency in Manufacturing Engineering workflows
  • Provide design guidance in relation to tooling and processing equipment

New Product Introduction

  • Assist and inform Design Engineering to ensure the effectiveness of new products
  • Champion Design for Manufacture within every new product to ensure high-quality manufacturing at all stages resulting in high yields
  • Review and create effective testing strategies within the process to ensure quality is designed in from conception
  • Provide alternative solutions to testing to ensure repeatability and reliability is in place for production processing
  • Undertake process development of early designs as required to inform prototype design iterations
  • Attend critical project and design reviews
  • Provide technical guidance to project managers on technical issues
  • Work with production to ensure effective buy-in

Continuous Improvement

  • Champion Continuous improvement through providing data-driven ideas for cost and delivery improvements
  • Produce data-backed Capital Expense plans driving technological advancement and capacity expansion
  • Drive performance on maximizing yield through process control
  • Conduct cycle time analysis to minimize processing cost
  • Lead Kaizen events as required
  • Support and drive company initiatives to reinforce our Company Values

Essential

What We’re Looking For

  • APICS CPIM or APICS CSCP or relevant discipline
  • Data Analyst certification
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Advanced user capability in Excel and Power BI
  • Data modelling and visualisation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of supply chain processes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management
  • Experience in detailed data and supply chain analysis
  • Development of dashboard and reporting tools
  • High competency working with large, complex datasets across ERP/MRP systems
  • Manufacturing environment experience

Desirable

  • CAD experience
  • ERP (SAP) knowledge
  • Knowledge of Lean and 6Sigma techniques
  • Experience in a machining workshop
  • CNC experience

Experience Required

  • 5-10 years’ relevant experience in Engineering
  • 3-5 years’ experience within aerospace or similar high mix, low volume manufacturing environment

Personal Skills Required

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is focused on improving day-to-day operations across the business, by supporting and driving continuous improvement methodologies in both short-term day-to-day business and looking out further to drive long-term growth. They are confident in discussing complex topics with all levels of the organization and suppliers, ensuring all communications foster a continuous improvement mindset focused around processes enhancing the delivery of people.

They are driven to independently generate and deliver on ideas while supporting others to maximize their delivery through coaching and mentoring.
