The Basics
Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer / Engineering Team Lead (Aerospace)
Salary: Up to £60,000 DOE
Hours: 07:30 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday, 07:30 - 12:30 Friday
Location: Near Redditch
Industry: Manufacturing / Precision Engineering
Reporting Structure: Leading a team of 6 Manufacturing Engineers, with responsibility for the Toolroom and its operators, whilst working closely with the Production Manager to resolve production issues and drive operational performance.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the engineering and manufacturing engineering function of a first-class precision engineering business. The site incorporates a variety of specialist manufacturing processes including:
- EDM Machining
- Multi-Axis Laser Processing
- Precision Welding
- Metal Forming using Hydraulic Presses
As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead manufacturing operations and drive continuous improvement across the production environment. This is a key leadership role responsible for delivering operational excellence across:

The successful candidate will be a visible leader on the shop floor, championing operational performance, safety culture, structured problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
As Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
- Deliver EHS, Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets.
- Maintain a strong shop-floor presence, identifying and resolving operational issues.
- Lead daily manufacturing and engineering meetings.
- Drive a positive health, safety, and environmental culture.
- Implement technical improvements to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Remove manufacturing constraints and improve productivity.
- Lead continuous improvement and problem-solving activities.
- Coach and develop Manufacturing Engineers and SMEs.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and KPI performance.
- Promote a culture of operational excellence and employee engagement.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful Senior Manufacturing Engineer may have some of the following experience. These are desirable rather than essential, and all applications will be considered on an individual basis.

- Proven experience in a Manufacturing Manager, Production Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Experience within manufacturing environments using one or more of the following processes:
- EDM Machining
- Multi-Axis Laser
- Precision Welding
- Press Work
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and developing engineering and operational talent.
- Ability to influence, motivate, and lead teams to achieve operational objectives.
- Data-driven decision-making capability with experience managing KPIs.
- Engineering or Manufacturing qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent) would be advantageous.
