Senior Marine Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Glasgow

Salary: £38,000 to £42,000 with huge overtime potential (more details below)

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Senior Marine Fire Protection Engineer to join their specialist marine safety team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Marine Engineer, Marine Service Engineer, Vessel Engineer, Offshore Engineer or Marine Safety Equipment Engineer looking to join a growing business operating across the maritime sector.

Working onboard commercial vessels, ferries, offshore assets and marine facilities throughout the UK and Europe, you'll play a vital role in maintaining, servicing, testing and certifying critical marine fire protection and life-saving equipment. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will also support the training and development of junior engineers, sharing your technical expertise and helping raise standards across the team.

This role would particularly suit candidates with experience in marine fire suppression systems, fixed firefighting installations, CO₂ systems, maritime safety equipment and shipboard engineering environments.

The Role

As a Senior Marine Fire Protection Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspection, servicing and certification of marine firefighting equipment onboard commercial shipping vessels and offshore assets.
  • Discharging, testing, refilling and recommissioning fixed fire suppression systems including CO₂, dry powder and foam systems.
  • Maintenance and inspection of high and low-pressure CO₂ flooding systems.
  • Service, repair and certification of portable and wheeled fire extinguishers.
  • Inspection, testing and maintenance of Breathing Apparatus (BA) and Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBDs).
  • Inspection and maintenance of marine fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to critical vessel safety systems.
  • Ensuring all work complies with industry and maritime safety standards.
  • Producing accurate inspection reports, certification documents and service records.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to developing engineers and technicians.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining a strong safety-first approach.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
