Senior Market Access Consultant

Location: Remote: UK

Job Summary

Our Senior Market Access Consultants support pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies in developing and executing payer strategies that optimise product value, pricing and reimbursement across key global markets. In this role you are responsible for leading on projects covering global payer strategies and value communications. You will account manage and provide clear strategic direction for Open Health clients ensuring timely and profitable delivery of high-quality market access projects. You will work with internal stakeholders to develop and expand the Strategic Market Access Centre of Excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Providing strategic support and leading clients in payer strategy development, market access planning, evidence gap analysis, value propositions, pricing & reimbursement analysis, stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration
  • Identifying, securing and leading on opportunities for Strategic Market Access business in the current healthcare and commercial environment
  • Playing an active role in the senior team to support best practice, develop new ideas and contribute to the Open Health business strategy
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of global payer requirements and pricing & reimbursement frameworks in UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the US
  • Ensuring profitable and timely delivery of high-quality market access projects
  • Maintaining client engagement throughout the project's delivery and ensuring that the client objectives are met to achieve positive outcomes
  • Collaborating with stakeholders on the business development team in identifying and supporting new opportunities
  • Ensuring effective cross functional working with all internal teams to ensure that the delivery of projects is as efficient and effective as possible and opportunities for collaboration are identified and delivered
  • Mentoring junior members of the Strategic Market Access team, including line management responsibility for members of the market access team with an ability to manage issues in a timely and effective manner
  • Demonstrating strong, consistent leadership within Open Health, including acting as a ‘champion’ for the function within the wider management team
  • Contributing to the achievements and annual targets
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate records of all project activities
  • Financial reporting to the COE Directors, in line with defined processes and timings. Ensure appropriate financial responsibility amongst all team members, in accordance with their role
  • Taking responsibility for ‘trouble-shooting’ ‘problem’ accounts, clients as and when issues arise. To immediately identify areas of weakness/key issues and to plan and implement remedial strategies, as appropriate
  • Always maintaining credibility and reputation of the OPEN Health team in all dealings with internal and external clients

Experience, Skills, And Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of global payer systems, HTA processes, and pricing frameworks in global healthcare environments
  • Significant experience within a market access consultancy developing global payer strategies, commercial assessments, landscape assessments, pricing strategies, global evidence generation strategies, in-licensing opportunities, launch sequencing strategies, value propositions, objection handlers
  • Good knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry; relating to product development, approval, marketing, and continued lifecycle management
  • Clinical knowledge and experience across a range of specialities
  • Significant experience in primary payer research including 1:1 interviews, surveys and advisory boards
  • Proven track record of project leadership and management from conception through to delivery
  • Excellent time management, project management, and presentation skills from inception through to delivery
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagements
  • Experience of line management and supporting people development
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a must.
  • Fluency in an additional language e.g. French, German, Japanese, is a plus but not required
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and written/verbal communication skills for presentations and payer discussions
