Senior Market Risk Manager – Structured & Exotic Derivatives
Location: London
Salary: Up to £100,000, depending on experience
Working arrangement: Office-based/hybrid
We are recruiting an experienced Market Risk Manager to join a leading global financial services business. This is a senior, hands-on role overseeing counterparty exposures and market risk across a complex portfolio of OTC, structured and exotic derivatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with trading, structuring and control functions, providing independent challenge and ensuring risks are accurately identified, measured and managed across multiple asset classes.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and manage counterparty exposures and market risk across OTC, structured and exotic derivatives.
- Assess complex derivative structures, embedded risks, pricing models and risk sensitivities.
- Review and enhance risk measurement methodologies, frameworks and limits.
- Challenge risk-taking activity against approved risk appetite.
- Provide independent risk assessments for new products and complex transactions.
- Partner with trading, structuring, model validation, finance and risk methodology teams.
- Produce clear risk reporting for senior management, highlighting key exposures, trends and emerging risks.
- Support stress testing, capital assessments and regulatory risk requirements.

Required experience
- Significant market risk, trading or structuring experience within a bank, investment firm, broker or similarly complex financial institution.
- Direct experience covering OTC, structured and/or exotic derivatives.
- Strong understanding of derivative pricing models and risk sensitivities.
- Experience across several asset classes, ideally including commodities, FX, rates, credit, equities or digital assets.
- Strong knowledge of market risk frameworks, limits, stress testing and capital requirements.
- Confidence challenging traders and senior stakeholders.
- Experience using market risk systems such as Sophis, Bloomberg or equivalent platforms.
- A quantitative degree or equivalent professional experience. CFA or FRM would be advantageous.
- Python, SQL, VBA, Power BI or advanced Excel skills would also be beneficial.

Please note
This position requires substantial, directly relevant experience in market risk and complex derivatives. It is not suitable for candidates whose experience is solely within operational risk, enterprise risk, compliance, audit or traditional credit risk.
Please only apply if you have hands-on experience managing market risk relating to OTC, structured or exotic derivative products. Applications without this experience are unlikely to be progressed.
