Fancy joining a fast-growing food business where you can actually make things happen?

If you're a marketer who gets a little bored by “we've always done it this way”, this could be one to look at.

We're working with a seriously ambitious challenger food business that's grown rapidly over the last few years and is now ready for its next big leap. They've built a brilliant position in their existing market, but they're now looking to take things further – particularly across retail.

And that's where you come in.

This is a newly created role with genuine scope to shape the marketing function, the brands and the direction of the business. You'll be joining a small, energetic team where things move quickly, ideas are encouraged and you won't need to spend three weeks getting sign-off to try something new.

In fact, their attitude is pretty simple: give it a go, see what happens, learn quickly and move on.

You'll be responsible for bringing more strategic thinking to the marketing function whilst still being very much a roll-your-sleeves-up-and-get-stuck-in marketer. You'll be looking ahead, setting the strategy and figuring out where the business should be going – but you'll also be happy getting into the detail and making things happen yourself.

There's a lot to get your teeth into. New products are launching, new channels are opening up and there's a huge opportunity to build awareness and make the brands much bigger than they are today.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing the marketing strategy and helping shape where the business goes over the next 1–3 years; leading the marketing plans for new product launches and making sure new ideas are set up for success
  • Helping drive the growth of the retail side of the business, whilst continuing to protect and develop the existing customer base
  • Figuring out who the target consumer really is, what makes them tick and how to get them excited about the brand. Building brand awareness and finding interesting, creative ways to get people talking
  • Bringing some much-needed structure to the brand – including establishing clear brand guidelines and making sure everyone sticks to them!
  • Coming up with ideas for everything from campaigns and partnerships to events, trade shows and activations
  • Managing a sizeable marketing budget and making sure you're spending it where it can have the biggest impact
  • Testing, learning and experimenting – without being afraid that not every idea will work
  • Making the most of agencies and external support when needed, but being perfectly comfortable doing the work yourself when that's quicker, smarter or more cost-effective

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for

We're not overly bothered about whether your current job title says Brand Manager, Senior Brand Manager, Senior Marketing Manager or something else entirely.

We're much more interested in what you've actually done and how you think.

You'll ideally have:

  • Solid FMCG / food marketing experience, with a strong understanding of retail
  • A genuinely strategic brain; you're able to zoom out and think about the bigger picture, not just the next campaign
  • Strong commercial instincts and experience managing a meaningful marketing budget
  • A hands-on approach – you're happy writing the brief and getting stuck into the execution
  • Plenty of energy and enthusiasm, particularly when things are moving at 100mph
  • The ability to work with plenty of autonomy without needing everything mapped out for you
  • No ego. You'll be working in a small team, so being collaborative, approachable and willing to muck in is important
