Job Description

About Us

At Octopus, we’re entrepreneurs and we’re investors, on a mission to back the people, ideas and industries that will change the world. We think working here is great, but we’re understandably biased.

The Role

As Senior Marketing Manager, you will play a critical role in driving fundraising success across the Octopus Investments product suite. You will own and deliver end-to-end marketing strategies that support our fundraise targets, fuel demand generation and strengthen Octopus’ position in the market.

This is a high-impact role sitting at the heart of the business. You will lead integrated go-to-market activity across our venture capital trusts and wider investment propositions to support fundraising, working closely with product, sales and distribution teams to deliver commercially meaningful campaigns.

Your focus will be on building awareness, driving engagement and converting demand, increasing lifetime value among existing clients while attracting new ones. You will lead thematic, insight-led campaigns that help raise awareness of the role of venture capital in supporting innovation and economic growth, alongside broader tax and investment opportunities, and be responsible for translating complex investment propositions into compelling, compliant and accessible marketing.

This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You will shape long-term plans while also be able to move quickly and pivot in response to changing market conditions, regulatory developments and fundraising priorities. While a significant focus of the role will be supporting VCT fundraising activity, you will also contribute across the wider Octopus Investments product suite as business priorities evolve. The role reports into the Head of Retail Marketing and offers the opportunity to have real influence across Octopus Investments at a time of significant growth ambition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver go-to-market strategies across the Octopus Investments product range in line with business and fundraising objectives.
  • Lead integrated fundraising campaigns that drive awareness, consideration and demand across multiple channels.
  • Help raise awareness of the role and value of venture capital investing through insight-led marketing campaigns and content.
  • Use strong storytelling to bring investment propositions to life and clearly articulate differentiation.
  • Lead the launch of new funds and product updates through compelling, compliant marketing campaigns.
  • Shape and refine core messaging to ensure clarity, consistency and relevance for different audiences.
  • Ensure fund and product information is accurate, up to date and visible across all owned, earned and paid channels.
  • Work closely with product, sales, distribution, content and events teams to ensure joined-up delivery of launches, campaigns and ongoing activity.
  • Develop high-impact marketing materials tailored to different adviser and investor segments.
  • Drive education and engagement initiatives such as webinars, events and workshops that support adviser confidence and client conversations.
  • Support marketing for new partnerships and distribution opportunities.
  • Lead campaign measurement and reporting, providing clear insight into performance, effectiveness and pipeline contribution
  • Own product online presence and performance, working closely with digital teams across paid media, SEO, analytics and content optimisation
  • Demonstrate marketing effectiveness through clear KPIs, ROI and budget management
  • Provide regular visibility of marketing plans, performance and outcomes to senior stakeholders
  • Use data, insight and analytics to continuously refine and improve marketing approaches
  • Collaborate closely with the wider marketing team, supporting cross‑team initiatives where required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
