About Salad

SALAD is one of the most exciting growth stories in UK consumer fintech. We are an FCA-authorised lender with a simple, stubborn belief: that fair, affordable credit could and should reach the millions of people the mainstream currently overlooks.

Where traditional lenders see a thin credit file and say no, we use our proprietary and King’s Award-winning credit decisioning technology, built around Open Banking, to read and analyse real consumer financial behaviour and say yes, responsibly and affordably.

It is working. We are growing fast, and we hold over 16,000 Trustpilot reviews with an average score of 4.9 from customers who thought they were invisible to lenders.

We are now building the team and infrastructure to do it at a far greater scale. This role is a key part of that build.

Role purpose

Own Salad's relationship with the customers and applicants we already have, and the channels Salad controls. Lead customer and lifecycle marketing, the website and conversion programme, organic search, our owned and earned media estate, and the customer-facing communications estate as a whole. The first priority is building a disciplined, compliant lifecycle and conversion capability that turns our customer base and application funnel into a growth engine alongside paid acquisition; the wider owned-media estate builds out from that core.

What you'll do

  • Run the lifecycle marketing programme end to end in HubSpot and SendGrid, covering onboarding, in-life engagement, refinance communications, referral activation, and re-activation of settled customers. Own all triggered and one-to-one communications across email, RCS and SMS, including incomplete application journeys, designing, testing, and measuring each programme against commercial outcomes rather than just engagement metrics.

  • Own the website content roadmap, organic search performance, and the conversion optimisation programme across the site and application funnel, building a prioritised testing pipeline, setting briefs for our agency partner's SEO and CRO workstreams, and working with internal teams on execution.

  • Manage Salad's organic social channels, newsletter, content amplification, and Trustpilot presence as one coordinated owned-media calendar, treating reviews and organic content as trust and conversion infrastructure for our customer segment, and directing day-to-day content execution support within the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Coordinate PR execution with our external agency and content partners, managing the pipeline from owned content through to earned coverage against strategy set internally.

  • Own segmentation execution, translating outputs from our data team into actionable audiences, journeys, and eligibility-triggered communications, and report monthly on lifecycle, owned channel, and conversion performance and their contribution to commercial OKRs.

  • Act as Salad's owner and gatekeeper for the customer-facing communications estate as a whole, including loan servicing communications. Working in partnership with Customer Account Management, control changes to servicing communications arising from pricing, eligibility, product, or policy decisions, so that every customer-facing message is accurate, clear, fair and consistent in tone and content. Monitor that the underlying business rules and workflows distribute communications as intended, and manage the cost of the communications estate across email, RCS and SMS.

  • Optimise the customer communications programme, working with Risk and Compliance to streamline our template estate and establish a clear governance and experimentation framework for customer communications, with regulatory sign-off remaining with Risk and Compliance.

  • Work with colleagues across Risk, Compliance, Credit, Data, and Customer Account Management, and with our agency and platform partners.

What you'll bring

  • Significant experience in marketing with hands-on ownership of a CRM, lifecycle, or customer marketing programme, ideally in a regulated or financial services environment. Direct operating experience with HubSpot or an equivalent platform such as Braze, Iterable, or Marketo, and an email service provider such as SendGrid. Experience owning a substantial communications estate, including responsibility for how communications are triggered, tested, and monitored in life. A demonstrable track record designing, testing, and scaling lifecycle or conversion programmes with measured commercial impact.

  • Genuine experimentation discipline: you form hypotheses, size opportunities, run controlled tests, and act on the results. The confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders in Risk and Compliance, and the ability to build relationships with external agency, content, and platform partners. Comfortable operating hands-on in a small team where you own outcomes, not just plans.

  • It's a bonus if you have experience in consumer lending or fintech, working knowledge of FCA Consumer Duty and financial promotions requirements, experience coordinating PR or earned media alongside owned channels, or familiarity with Open Banking, credit broking distribution, or underserved customer segments.

Required skills and attributes.

  • Exceptional written English, with the judgement to write clearly for a reader who may be financially stressed and reading in a hurry.

  • Impeccable attention to detail, in a role where a single error reaches thousands of customers and can become a regulatory breach.

  • Restless curiosity, particularly about the frontier of marketing technology and AI, with a track record of putting new tools to practical use rather than simply following them.

  • Real empathy, and the judgement to shape how we communicate with customers in vulnerable financial circumstances, with warmth and without condescension.

  • Systems thinking, designing and managing automated workflows, and in time AI agents, as coherent systems rather than a collection of individual campaigns.

  • Commercial numeracy, comfortable sizing an opportunity, reading performance data, and building the case for where effort should go.

  • Quiet authority with senior colleagues, able to hold a position on evidence and win agreement without relying on hierarchy.

  • Genuine self-sufficiency, at ease in a small team where getting something live often means finding the route yourself.

Desirable skills and attributes

  • Instinctive product sense for how a customer journey should feel end to end, across communications, website, and application.

  • Editorial judgement about what is worth publishing and what is noise.

  • Comfort with regulation as a design constraint to work within rather than an obstacle to resent.

Additional Information

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
  • SALAD is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are committed to providing reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process.
  • SALAD processes personal data in accordance with our Data Retention Policy, which is available upon request.
