Senior Marketing Manager (EU)

Location: Primarily UK/EU, with up to 35% travel Reports to: VP, Global Marketing

Role Overview

The Senior Marketing Manager (EU) will lead downstream commercial marketing across key European markets, with a focus on:

  • UK & Ireland
  • Germany & Austria
  • Broader EU expansion

This hands-on, high-ownership role requires collaboration across: ✔ EU field colleagues ✔ UK-based clinical/commercial teams ✔ Global marketing leadership

Your primary focus: Build the commercial infrastructure to accelerate Phagenyx adoption in European hospital systems.


Key Responsibilities

Messaging & Localisation

  • Adapt the Phagenyx value proposition for European markets (e.g., neurologists, SLTs, intensivists), ensuring resonance and relevance.
  • Develop локализованные materials (e.g., brochures, slide decks, clinical summaries) aligned with NHS or European healthcare system contexts, including EU regulatory compliance (ABPI, ABHI codes).
  • Translate complex clinical evidence into simple, accessible formats for both clinical and economic buyers.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all EU-facing touchpoints with culturally and linguistically accurate translations.

Lead Generation & Demand Creation

  • Design and execute demand-generation programs targeting:
    • NHS Trusts
    • Stroke units & critical care departments
    • European hospital networks
  • Lead digital campaigns, congress activations, and peer-initiatives to boost awareness and conversions.
  • Develop account segmentation frameworks, prioritising high-value NHS and EU hospital accounts in collaboration with EU field teams.
  • Track and analyse lead metrics, optimising programs based on performance data.
  • Support symposia, webinars, and educational events for EU/UK healthcare professionals.

Pipeline Acceleration & Deal Velocity

  • Create commercial tools to streamline the EU sales funnel (e.g., clinical champion engagement → Trust approval → first patient).
  • Develop NHS-facing objection-handling resources, economic models, and business case frameworks tailored to local commissioning processes.
  • Preempt pipeline bottlenecks by collaborating with EU Therapy Development Specialists (e.g., clinical education support, executive business cases).
  • Ensure materials align with EU reimbursement landscapes (e.g., NHS ICBs, European payer decision-making*).

Implementation & Programme Onboarding

  • Empower fast, high-quality site activation by creating:
    • Onboarding resources
    • Training materials
    • Patient selection tools
  • Adapt global network materials for EU conventions (e.g., UK’s NBM vs. IRE/EU’s NPO systems, local FEES/DIGEST standards).
  • Develop quarterly business review frameworks to monitor site adoption and retention.

Field Enablement & Sales Support

  • Provide EU field teams with prepared assets:
    • Pitch decks
    • Clinical evidence summaries
    • Leave-behinds
    • Competitive differentiation content
  • Offer ongoing ad-hoc support (e.g., field rides, real-time clinical/competitor queries).
  • Coordinate KOL (Key Opinion Leader) engagements, event logistics, and follow-up materials.
  • Maintain EU marketingcalendar, aligning programs with climactic moments (e.g., congresses, NICE guidelines).

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Global Marketing to ensure EU activities align broadly while remaining simultaneously relevant locally.
  • Partner with EU Medical/Clinical Affairs to maintain evidence-based alignment (e.g., with medical education initiatives).
  • Monitor competitive intelligence and reporting to VP, Global Marketing.
  • Manage EU marketing budget accountably and maintain full regulatory compliance.

Essential Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree; MBA or postgraduate business qualification preferred.
  • Industry: 5–8 years in downstream/commercial marketing (e.g., medical devices, medtech) UK/EU markets.
  • Commercial Projects: Experience in:
    • Content & sales-enablement tool development
    • Demand-generation programming
    • Hospital-acquisition targeting
  • NHS Awareness: Strong knowledge of NHS commissioning, ICBs, NICE processes and frameworks (e.g., HRG codes, purchasing pathways*).
  • Soft Skills: Fluent professional English, tolerated collaboration with sales, medical/clinical, and legal teams.
  • Tech Proficiency: Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, and marketing platforms (e.g., HubSpot).
  • Work Style: Highly organised, self-motivated, decision-driven in fast-evolving settings.
  • Travel & Location: Eligible to work in UK/Germany; 30–35% travel required.

Desirable Experience

  • Specialist Therapeutic Areas: Prior neurology, stroke, dysphagia, or ICU/dysphagia-disruptor experience.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of ABPI/ABHI codes, EU MDR, and medtech marketing standards.

  • NHS Reimbursement: Experience with NICE submissions, Healthcare Evaluation, or pricing systems.
