About Salad
Salad is one of the most exciting growth stories in UK consumer fintech. We are an FCA-authorised lender with a simple, stubborn belief: that fair, affordable credit could and should reach people who are underserved by mainstream lenders.
Where traditional lenders see a thin credit file and say no, we use our proprietary and King’s Award-winning credit decisioning technology, built around Open Banking, to read and analyse real consumer financial behaviour and say yes, responsibly and affordably.
It is working. We are growing fast, and we hold over 16,000 Trustpilot reviews with an average score of 4.9 from customers who may previously have felt overlooked by mainstream lenders.
We are now building the team and infrastructure to do it at a far greater scale. This role is a key part of that build.
Role purpose
Own Salad’s relationships with existing customers and applicants, as well as its controlled channels. Lead B2C customer and lifecycle marketing, website and conversion optimisation, organic search, owned and earned media, and all customer-facing communications.
CRM and lifecycle marketing sit at the heart of the role. The immediate priority is to build a disciplined, compliant lifecycle and conversion capability that turns our customer base and application funnel into a growth engine alongside paid acquisition. From this foundation, the role will develop Salad’s wider owned-media presence.
This is a hands-on Senior Marketing Manager role within a small team. You will set the strategic direction while working directly on customer journeys, testing, optimisation and delivery across CRM and owned channels.
What you'll do
- Run Salad’s lifecycle marketing programme end to end in HubSpot and SendGrid, spanning onboarding, in-life engagement, refinance communications, referral activation and the reactivation of settled customers. Build, launch and optimise triggered and one-to-one communications across email, RCS and SMS, including incomplete application journeys, and measure every programme against commercial outcomes rather than engagement metrics alone.
- Own Salad’s website content, organic search performance and conversion optimisation across both the site and application funnel. Build and manage a prioritised testing pipeline, use performance data to identify opportunities, write clear briefs for our agency partner’s SEO and CRO workstreams, and work with internal teams to turn recommendations into live improvements.
- Plan and actively manage Salad’s organic social channels, content amplification and Trustpilot presence through one coordinated owned-media calendar. Use reviews and organic content to build trust and improve conversion for our customer segment, while directing and contributing to day-to-day content execution within the team.
- Coordinate PR execution with our external agency and content partners, managing the pipeline from owned content through to earned coverage in line with the strategy set internally.
- Own segmentation execution, translating outputs from our data team into actionable audiences, journeys, and eligibility-triggered communications, and report monthly on lifecycle, owned channel, and conversion performance and their contribution to commercial OKRs.
- Act as the owner and gatekeeper of Salad’s entire customer-facing communications estate, including loan servicing communications. In partnership with Customer Account Management, manage changes arising from pricing, eligibility, product or policy decisions so that every message is accurate, clear, fair and consistent in tone and content. Check that the underlying business rules and workflows distribute communications as intended, resolve issues, and control costs across email, RCS and SMS.
- Optimise the customer communications programme, working directly with Risk and Compliance to streamline the template estate and build and operate a clear governance and experimentation framework, with regulatory sign-off remaining with Risk and Compliance.
- Work directly with colleagues across Risk, Compliance, Credit, Data and Customer Account Management, as well as our agency and platform partners, to move activity from idea and approval through to implementation and measurable results.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you'll bring
- Hands-on experience in B2C customer marketing across all three core areas of the role: CRM and lifecycle marketing; website and conversion optimisation; and organic search and owned content channels. Your background should show breadth across the customer journey rather than specialism in CRM alone and should be rooted in B2C customer journeys rather than B2B lead generation, ABM or sales nurture.
- Experience designing, building, launching and optimising lifecycle journeys across onboarding, activation, retention, reactivation and win-back. You should understand triggers, segmentation, personalisation, testing and measurement, and be able to move confidently from customer insight and journey design through to implementation and performance improvement.
- Hands-on experience building and managing campaigns, automations and customer journeys in HubSpot or a comparable CRM or marketing automation platform, such as Braze, Iterable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Marketo, alongside an email service provider such as SendGrid.
- Hands-on experience across website content, SEO and conversion optimisation, either through direct delivery or specialist agency support, with the ability to assess performance, prioritise improvements and remain accountable for results.
- Practical experience planning and delivering owned-media activity beyond CRM, including organic social, content amplification and customer review platforms, with the judgement and practical ability to turn a coordinated content plan into live activity.
- A demonstrable track record of delivering measurable improvements across customer journeys, website or application conversion and owned channels, with evidence of commercial impact rather than engagement metrics alone.
- Experience taking hands-on responsibility for a substantial customer communications estate, including the governance, business rules and operational controls that determine how communications are triggered, tested, monitored and improved over time.
- Experience in financial services, fintech or another regulated B2C environment is highly desirable, particularly involving close collaboration with Risk or Compliance on customer communications. Consumer lending experience is an advantage, but not essential.
- Comfort operating as a hands-on individual contributor in a small team. You will set direction and make sound decisions while analysing performance, building journeys, shaping content and getting activity live. This is not a Director-level or people-management role.
- Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders and external agency, content and platform partners while retaining ownership of delivery and outcomes. You should be able to write effective briefs, evaluate specialist advice, challenge constructively and turn agreed recommendations into implemented activity.
