Senior Match-3 Designer, New Game

We’re looking for a talented and highly experienced Senior Match-3 Designer (internally Game Designer) to join our lovely and ambitious game team and help craft fun, rewarding and memorable puzzle experiences for our cozy mobile game.

You’ll own the overall match-3 gameplay experience, helping to define how the puzzle game feels to play while delivering best-in-class levels that strike the right balance of challenge, progression and delight. From core gameplay tuning and mechanic development through to polished, data-informed level iterations, you’ll take ownership of the player experience and continually raise the quality bar.

You’ll work closely with game designers, artists, developers and analysts to ensure the match-3 is satisfying, intuitive and rewarding, evolving its mechanics, pacing and feel so that the game’s creative vision and long-term engagement goals come through. You’ll use player feedback, analytics and playtesting to refine gameplay, experiment with new ideas and shape the ongoing evolution of the game’s core puzzle experience.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll also help shape our level production strategy, driving quality with both internal development and external partners while contributing to the long-term direction of the game.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, build and balance exceptional match-3 levels that deliver engaging gameplay across a wide range of player skill levels.
  • Collaborate with developers to tune game feel and match 3 gameplay to be best-in-class
  • Own the design of blockers, boosters and rewards and shape satisfying level progression
  • Use analytics, player feedback and playtesting to continuously refine levels and improve player experience.
  • Work alongside Engineering to improve level design tools, workflows and implementation processes.
  • Partner with Art to ensure levels are visually readable, aesthetically cohesive and support the game’s creative vision.
  • Plan and own Match 3 content production, ensuring a consistent pipeline of high-quality content that supports development milestones and LiveOps.
  • Lead external level design contractors and outsourcing partners by providing clear briefs, regular feedback and quality reviews, ensuring all delivered content meets Treefrog’s standards.
  • Mentor other designers through feedback, knowledge sharing and collaborative problem solving.

What You Have

  • Experience shipping successful free-to-play match-3 or puzzle games.
  • Experience designing LiveOps events, seasonal content or limited-time game modes.
  • Strong understanding of player progression, retention, engagement and monetisation in puzzle.
  • Experience improving level editors, pipelines or content creation workflows.
  • Experience leading small feature teams or mentoring designers.
  • Have a deep understanding of the competition and genre trends.
  • Passion for cosy games and creating emotionally engaging player experiences.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Benefits And Compensation

Relocation? Yes!
