About The Role
As a Senior Material Handler, you'll support the Distribution Warehouse team by ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient receipt, storage, handling, picking, packing, and dispatch of materials and customer orders, including temperature-controlled and cold-chain shipments. You'll play an important role in advancing operational excellence by maintaining high safety, quality, and compliance standards, while collaborating with colleagues to support warehouse operations, drive continuous improvement, and deliver reliable results for our customers, partners, and communities.
What You'll Do
Safety, Quality and Compliance
- Put the health and safety of yourself and others first, immediately reporting unsafe, unethical or non-compliant practices through the appropriate channels.
- Proactively identify and help eliminate unsafe conditions, behaviours and working practices within the department.
- Perform all activities in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, quality requirements and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a strong quality mindset, with a focus on achieving right first time, every time.
- Ensure materials and products are handled, stored and processed correctly to protect product quality and integrity.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and workplace safety.
- Take personal accountability for compliance with safety, quality, security and regulatory requirements.
Warehouse & Distribution Operations
- Pick and pack domestic and international customer orders accurately and efficiently, including ambient, refrigerated and cold-chain products.
- Handle a range of packaged materials and devices at ground level and at height, using appropriate equipment and safe working practices.
- Safely operate warehouse equipment, vehicles and mechanical lifting/picking aids in accordance with training and site requirements.
- Perform stock management activities, including goods receipt, stock put-away, replenishment and cycle counting.
- Complete required transactions accurately within SAP, ensuring system records reflect completed warehouse activities.
- Support the achievement of daily Safety, Quality and Delivery targets while maintaining required standards of accuracy and compliance.

Senior Operative & Team Support
- Act as a technical resource within the department, using operational knowledge and experience to support colleagues and resolve process or technical issues.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of departmental processes and demonstrate subject matter expertise across the required areas of operation.
- Provide practical training, coaching and support to new and developing colleagues.
- Support competency assessments and reviews, helping ensure colleagues are appropriately trained and competent to perform assigned activities.
- Play an active role in daily departmental meetings and support the Shift Leader in communicating priorities, performance and operational requirements.
- Monitor progress against daily goals and escalate risks, issues or barriers to the Shift Leader or Manager as appropriate.
- Understand team and departmental performance and safety metrics and help identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery and productivity.
- Support problem solving, process improvement and continuous improvement activities across the department.
- Act as delegate for the Shift Leader when required and within the scope of training and authorisation.
Performance & Development
- Take personal accountability for attendance, performance, productivity and the quality of work completed.
- Actively participate in regular performance and development discussions and act constructively on feedback.
- Maintain required personal training and competency records within the company Quality Management System, including MasterControl.
- Proactively take on additional responsibilities where appropriate and demonstrate a positive approach to change and continuous improvement.
- Role model the 4i Values in day-to-day behaviours and interactions.
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities reasonably required by the business and within the capabilities and training of the post holder.

What We're Looking For
- Strong technical and operational knowledge of warehouse and distribution processes, with demonstrated competence across a broad range of departmental activities.
- The required level of departmental process knowledge to act as a subject matter expert and technical resource for colleagues.
- A strong quality mindset and commitment to achieving right first time, every time.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to communicate information and present to colleagues and teams.
- The ability to positively influence, support and motivate colleagues within a high-performing team environment.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and record information accurately.
- Confidence using computer-based systems, including email and warehouse/stock management applications.
- Advanced working knowledge of SAP within a warehouse or stores environment.
- Strong organisational and housekeeping skills.
- A high level of reliability, accountability and sound judgement.
- A proactive approach to taking additional responsibility, solving problems and supporting change.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, quality and security requirements.
- The physical capability to undertake the requirements of the role, which includes manual handling of loads of up to 20 kg and spending a significant proportion of the working day on your feet.
- The ability to operate forklifts and other mechanical lifting or picking equipment following the required training
