Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (M&E)
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £90,000+ Package
The Role:
- Take commercial responsibility for mechanical and electrical projects from early design through to practical completion and final account
- Maintain financial control across projects, including monthly valuations, cost reviews and job costing
- Prepare and submit monthly valuations following site measurements and work-in-progress reviews
- Manage variations, change control and associated commercial recovery
- Follow up valuations and ensure payments are received in line with agreed contract terms
- Manage and agree final accounts
- Review contracts prior to signing, highlighting potential commercial risks, assumptions and caveats
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and site teams
- Produce commercial documentation and correspondence within agreed timescales
- Work closely with the Commercial Manager and senior management team
- Develop and improve commercial processes and controls to increase efficiency and project performance

The Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working within Quantity Surveying
- Previous M&E, building services or relevant construction experience
- Strong experience managing valuations, variations, cost control and final accounts
- Commercially astute with a strong understanding of project risk
- Experience administering JCT contracts from a client and/or subcontractor perspective
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and cost value reporting
- Quantity Surveying or relevant construction qualification
- RICS, CIOB or ICES qualified or working towards accreditation would be advantageous
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Organised, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of commercial matters
- Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
