Senior Meat Buyer / Trader
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per annum + Performance Bonus
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am - 5:00pm
If you know the meat industry and enjoy negotiating deals, building supplier relationships and staying ahead of the market, we'd love to hear from you.
We're looking for an experienced Senior Meat Buyer / Trader to join our buying team. This is a hands-on commercial role where you'll have the autonomy to make buying decisions, negotiate directly with suppliers and play a key role in keeping the business competitive.
We also welcome applications from experienced Commodity Buyers looking to move into the meat sector, particularly those with a background in food manufacturing, wholesale or FMCG.

What you'll be doing
No two days are the same, but you'll spend your time:
- Buying fresh meat products from UK and international suppliers.
- Negotiating prices, contracts and supply agreements to secure the best commercial outcomes.
- Monitoring market trends, pricing and availability to stay ahead of changes in the industry.
- Building and maintaining strong, long-term supplier relationships.
- Working closely with Sales, Planning and Operations to ensure products are available when customers need them.
- Identifying new suppliers and sourcing opportunities to strengthen the supply chain.
- Managing stock levels and helping to ensure continuity of supply.
- Finding opportunities to improve margins while maintaining quality and service.
What we're looking for
You'll probably already be working as a:
- Senior Meat Buyer
- Meat Buyer
- Meat Trader
- Commodity Buyer
- Procurement Buyer
- Category Buyer
- Commercial Buyer
We're looking for someone who enjoys the commercial side of buying, thrives on negotiating deals and building supplier relationships, and has the confidence to make informed buying decisions.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience buying meat, protein or other food commodities.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Excellent commercial awareness and an understanding of market trends.
- The ability to build lasting relationships with suppliers.
- A proactive approach and the confidence to work independently.
