Hays Building Services are recruiting on behalf of a leading infrastructure and engineering organisation involved in the delivery of one of the UK's most significant construction programmes. With a strong track record of delivering major projects across transportation and critical infrastructure, our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join their growing engineering team based in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role on a nationally important project, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex engineering solutions that will leave a lasting legacy.
Your new role
Responsibilities
As a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer, you will support the delivery of mechanical building services designs associated with a range of complex infrastructure assets. Working closely with the Design Manager and wider project teams, you will help coordinate engineering activities, review design outputs and ensure solutions are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements. - Coordinating the design and engineering activities for a range of building services and infrastructure assets.
- Reviewing designs produced by consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with project standards and specifications.
- Promoting safe-by-design principles and supporting technical assurance processes.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical queries and support design approvals.
- Providing technical input to procurement, construction and delivery teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
- Supporting the Design Manager in the safe and efficient delivery of engineering packages throughout the project lifecycle.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you will ideally possess:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or a desire to work towards professional accreditation.
- Experience delivering complex building services, construction or infrastructure projects within a multidisciplinary environment.
- A strong understanding of design management, technical assurance and engineering best practice.
- The ability to review and optimise engineering solutions while balancing programme, cost, quality and risk considerations.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
- Experience within large-scale infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of pumping stations, utility infrastructure or similar engineering assets would also be beneficial.
- The right to work in the UK.
