Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Fuel & Air Systems)

Location: Peterborough (Onsite)
Duration: 12 Months (Likely Extension)
Rate: £40 - 47 p/h Umbrella

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of air and fuel systems for new diesel engine programmes.

This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative new product development projects, contributing to next-generation engine technologies from concept through to production release. Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you will develop robust engineering solutions while working closely with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and global engineering stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop air and fuel system components for diesel engine applications.
  • Produce and maintain engineering designs using Creo CAD.
  • Manage engineering data and releases using Teamcenter.
  • Support product development activities from concept through to production.
  • Lead design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Work with suppliers to develop and validate engineering solutions.
  • Support FMEA, DVP&R and technical problem-solving activities.
  • Produce technical reports and engineering documentation.
  • Support implementation of engineering solutions across global manufacturing facilities.

Required/Desired Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years' engineering experience.
  • Air and/or fuel system design experience.
  • Strong Creo CAD experience.
  • Teamcenter experience.
  • Diesel or reciprocating engine product development experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Off-highway engine experience.
  • Experience with APQP, FMEA and DVP&R methodologies.
  • Experience designing engine, powertrain, air, or fuel system components.
  • 10+ years relevant industry experience.
