Role Description
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is a full-time, hybrid role based in Leeds, with flexibility for some work from home. This role involves leading the mechanical design of building services, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and other mechanical systems for low carbon, sustainable buildings. - Developing design concepts
- Producing detailed calculations and drawings
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
- Ensuring designs meet regulatory and client requirements

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will:
- Review and validate designs produced by junior engineers
- Contribute to project planning and documentation
- Support site visits, surveys, and inspections as needed
- Liaise with clients
- Attend design meetings
- Provide technical guidance to promote best practices in mechanical building services design
Qualifications
- Strong Design Engineering and Mechanical Engineering skills applicable to building services and low carbon solutions.
- Experience with Machine Design and Product Design for mechanical systems and components within the built environment.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for producing detailed mechanical drawings and models.
- Relevant engineering degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering) and professional registration or working toward chartership (e.g., CEng) is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical building services design, including HVAC, hot and cold water, and energy-efficient systems.
- Knowledge of UK building regulations, standards, and industry codes of practice related to mechanical design and sustainability.
- Ability to lead projects, mentor junior team members, and communicate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
