About Cooled Motors

Cooled Motors is developing next-generation electric drive systems for high-performance automotive and aerospace applications.

We are building advanced propulsion technologies that combine innovations in electric-machine, power electronics, control systems and thermal management to deliver compact, efficient and scalable electric drives for the future of mobility.

Our work sits at the intersection of electric vehicles, aerospace propulsion, advanced manufacturing and clean technology. We are tackling some of the most important challenges in electrification: improving performance, reducing system cost, increasing power density and enabling more sustainable supply chains.

The role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of our electric motor drive technologies. The role will focus on mechanical design, CAD modelling, engineering drawings, supplier communication, and supporting the development of prototype and production-intent components.

You will work closely with the technical team to turn concepts into manufacturable designs, prepare clear engineering documentation, and support supplier engagement for prototype and manufacturing activities.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Develop mechanical designs for electric motor components, assemblies, and test hardware.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Produce engineering drawings in accordance with BS 8888 and good drawing practice.
  • Apply GD&T principles to define tolerances, fits, interfaces, and critical features.
  • Support design for manufacture, assembly, and inspection.
  • Communicate with suppliers to request quotes, review manufacturability, clarify drawings, and support component delivery.
  • Review supplier feedback and update designs or drawings where required.
  • Support prototype build, testing, and design iteration.
  • Work with the engineering team to solve mechanical, thermal, structural, and packaging challenges.
  • Maintain design documentation, BOMs, and revision-controlled engineering files.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
