Job Details
Role Purpose
Lead the delivery of mechanical design solutions for complex engineering projects, providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and ensuring high-quality, compliant, and customer-focused outcomes across aerospace, land, maritime, and autonomous systems programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design activities from concept through to delivery.
- Take ownership of complex technical challenges and provide expert guidance.
- Chair and contribute to design reviews and technical governance activities.
- Produce and review CAD models, engineering drawings, reports, and technical documentation.
- Support requirements capture, verification, validation, safety, and compliance activities.
- Manage technical risks, budgets, schedules, and stakeholder expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement and support the development of junior engineers.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, manufacturing teams, and project stakeholders.

Skills & Experience
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience delivering technical hardware solutions in a regulated or safety-critical industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing, materials, tolerancing, and engineering fundamentals.
- Experience using CAD and, ideally, engineering analysis tools such as FEA or CFD.
- Knowledge of design governance, safety processes, and engineering standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
- Experience in aerospace, defence, maritime, automotive, or similar sectors.
- Formal training in safety engineering, HAZID, or regulatory compliance.
