Senior Mechanical Design Engineer β Building Services

I am working with an established and growing Building Services Consultancy looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its team.
This is a key position within the business, taking responsibility for the full mechanical building services design of commercial and high-end residential projects, while also overseeing and supporting 1 Graduate and 2 Intermediate Mechanical Engineers.
The Role
- Full mechanical building services design from concept through to construction
- Design of heating, cooling, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic water and drainage systems
- Heating and cooling load calculations
- Pipework and ductwork sizing
- Plant selection, equipment specification and plant room design
- Production and review of technical specifications, schedules and design documentation
- Take technical ownership of mechanical design across multiple projects
- Manage, mentor and develop 1 Graduate and 2 Intermediate Engineers
- Review designs and calculations produced by junior members of the team
- Delegate workload and ensure projects are delivered to programme and required standards
- Coordinate with electrical, architectural and structural disciplines
- Liaise directly with clients, architects, contractors and project stakeholders
- Attend and lead design meetings
- Ensure designs comply with Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance and relevant UK standards

What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in Mechanical Building Services Design
- Previous experience within an MEP/Building Services Consultancy
- Experience across commercial and high-end residential projects
- Strong HVAC and mechanical services design knowledge
- Ability to independently deliver projects through the full design lifecycle
- Previous experience mentoring, supervising or managing junior engineers
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit and relevant mechanical design software
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE standards
- Confident client-facing with the ability to take technical ownership of projects
