The Role

An established engineering and manufacturing business is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Product Development team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the design and development of complex, high-precision products, taking ownership of projects from initial concept through to production.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll be responsible for delivering innovative mechanical design solutions while ensuring products are robust, manufacturable and ready for successful introduction into production.

You'll be involved throughout the full product development lifecycle, taking responsibility for the design, development and validation of mechanical systems and assemblies. The role offers a varied mix of design work, supplier collaboration and cross-functional project involvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing mechanical and electro-mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Producing detailed engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing documentation
  • Designing for manufacture, assembly, reliability and serviceability
  • Supporting thermal management and mechanical performance through analysis and simulation
  • Working closely with suppliers on component design, manufacturing and technical compliance
  • Supporting the introduction of new products into manufacturing
  • Collaborating with engineering, production and other departments to deliver successful new product launches
  • Managing multiple design activities while meeting project timescales

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
