Linked Engineering Ltd. is a multi-disciplinary building services design consultancy providing Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health Engineering design, along with project and technical support services across diverse industry sectors. Drawing on more than 30 years of experience in MEP services contracting and consulting, the team delivers bespoke, proactive, and personalized solutions backed by strong technical expertise.

The company offers end-to-end support, from conceptual and detailed design through project management, commissioning, and handover, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. With a mission to engineer success in partnership with clients, Linked Engineering provides turnkey solutions, tender support, and Stage 3 verification, leveraging efficient communication and rapid response. The organization actively uses Building Information Modelling (BIM) to improve efficiency, reduce installation time, and support collaborative design and construction throughout the building life cycle.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Peterborough. This position is responsible for leading mechanical building services design across all project stages, from concept through detailed design, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing calculations, specifications, and drawings
  • Coordinating with electrical and public health engineers
  • Supporting BIM integration in project workflows
  • Attending client and design team meetings
  • Providing technical guidance
  • Overseeing junior engineers
  • Contributing to project planning, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Assisting with tender reviews, technical verification
  • Continuous improvement of engineering processes and documentation

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical building services design skills, including HVAC, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
  • Experience with MEP and MEPH coordination, collaborating closely with electrical and public health disciplines.
  • Proficiency with CAD and BIM tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD) and familiarity with digital design workflows.
  • Solid understanding of UK building regulations, industry standards, and best practices for health and safety (including CDM).
  • Proven ability to manage projects, including scheduling, resource planning, and overseeing testing and commissioning.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct technical reviews and verification of design outputs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client liaison, reporting, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers or technicians in a consultancy or contracting environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; chartership or working toward chartered status is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in building services consultancy or MEP contracting, particularly in commercial, industrial, or public sector projects.
