We are delighted to bring a new mechanical opportunity to the market, working alongside a local director owned M&E engineering consultancy as they seek a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Glasgow office. This opportunity is suited towards a professional, ambitious engineer at the earlier stages of their career who is keen to progress, climb the ladder, grow and have influence on the wider business. There is no glass ceiling so if you are keen to go all the way long-term this company will provide you with the environment and support to do so. Perhaps you have plateaued where you are, or you know you have more to offer at your current organisation, but this isn’t being recognised/supported. If this is the case I’d encourage reaching out. The business have a range of small, medium and large scale jobs across multiple sectors such as PBSA, High-End Hotels, Infrastructure & District Heating, Retail Universities and more.
Role
- Ensuring an understanding of project briefs.
- Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.
- Preparation and review of documentation, e.g. designs, specifications, assessment reports, survey reports.
- Carry out (managing of others) in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, Design Builder.
- Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
- Implementation of detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish status of the existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposal.
- Assisting with the development of junior engineers.
- Report and technical note writing.

Qualifications/Experience
- Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
- Ideally chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
- 5-10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.
- Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
- Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
- Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools.
