Overview
Are you excited by the challenge of working on cutting-edge projects and ground-breaking engineering solutions? A renowned and respected engineering consultancy with a strong presence in highly regulated sectors is looking to appoint a Senior Design Engineer to join their industry-leading team in Derby.
This role offers the chance to contribute to technically complex programmes within nuclear and defence environments, working as part of a collaborative and experienced engineering team.
Key Duties
- Develop and deliver engineering designs aligned with client and project requirements
- Create and maintain 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software
- Review, adapt, and improve existing designs to enhance performance and manufacturability
- Ensure all work adheres to relevant industry standards, safety requirements, and best practice
- Work closely with internal teams to bring concepts through to completion
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to less experienced team members
- Communicate design intent and solutions clearly to stakeholders

Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in a senior-level design engineering or similar role
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and the ability to work closely with the mechanical engineering team
- Appreciate the manufacturing considerations within the design process
- Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, defence, aerospace, or similar) is advantageous
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Siemens NX (or comparable systems)
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
- Relevant engineering qualification (degree or equivalent experience)
- Working knowledge of applicable safety and compliance standards
