At Pick Everard, water management is central to our work. We’re proud to support major Clients like Severn Trent Water, United Utilities, Thames Water, Yorkshire Water, and the Government of Jersey, while also collaborating closely with contractors to develop innovative designs.
To meet our growing business needs and future development aspirations we are looking to appoint an exceptional Senior Mechanical Engineer - Water Civil Engineering to join our fast-growing Water Engineering team, delivering a wide range of wastewater, clean water and Better Rivers projects. This role can be carried out from a variety of our office locations including Leicester, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Derby, London and Glasgow.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping the mechanical designs that support the delivery of innovative water and wastewater projects throughout full project lifecycle.
As a valued member of a multi-disciplinary project team, you will work closely with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, Clients, supply chain partners, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver projects that positively impact our environment and communities.

Your core responsibilities will include:
- Leading development of mechanical designs from feasibility through to detailed design and construction for a wide range of clean water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, including treatment plants, pumping stations, sewerage networks and pumped storage systems.
- Leading development of high-quality technical deliverables such as P&IDs, valve and penstock schedules, mechanical specifications, and aboveground pipework layouts.
- Leading development of key engineering technical calculations including pump sizing, safe access assessments, lifting and maintenance arrangements, and equipment selection.
- Mentoring junior colleagues, supporting their development.
- Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams (Civil, Structural, Electrical, Geotechnical, and Process engineering) to deliver technically robust, cost-effective solutions that meet programme, budget, and client quality requirements.
- Representing the firm at client meetings.
- Supporting projects and contributing your own innovative ideas to help us find affordable, sustainable and low carbon solutions for our clients.
- Compliance with Health and Safety requirements, practices and procedures.

Our ideal Senior Mechanical Engineer - Water Civil Engineering will have:
- A degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Working towards a professional qualification with professional institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE etc)
- Some work experience with consultant or contractor (desirable).
- A good understanding of mechanical engineering principles for water related projects.
- Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation (especially CDM) and CAD.
- Strong written communication skills, including annotating drawings, and writing clear reports.
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- A willingness to learn, grow, and take on new challenges.
