Our workforce consists of more than 65,000 professionals, present in more than 40 countries across the five continents, all contributing in our mission to design a better planet.

Come and join us in building the infrastructure our planet needs to achieve a sustainable future.

We are seeking two experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineers to join the Technical Office team on the Thames Water Coppermills Resilience Project.

Role Summary

Supporting the Mechanical Construction Manager, you will play a key role in the delivery of major mechanical work packages from detailed design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. Working closely with designers, suppliers, subcontractors, procurement teams, and site delivery personnel, you will ensure that mechanical installations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project objectives.

This role will focus on large-diameter metallic pipework systems and major process equipment, including pumps, surge vessels, pressure vessels, valves, and associated mechanical infrastructure. It offers an excellent opportunity to take ownership of critical packages on one of Thames Water's flagship resilience projects.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you will:

  • Support the delivery of mechanical work packages throughout design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
  • Manage day-to-day engineering and coordination activities for major mechanical installations.
  • Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Develop, review, and maintain mechanical work packages, technical documentation, and scopes of work.
  • Manage technical queries, design clarifications, engineering changes, and interface coordination.
  • Coordinate activities between engineering, procurement, subcontractors, suppliers, and construction teams.
  • Support mechanical completion, testing, commissioning, and asset handover activities.
  • Assist with tender evaluations, subcontractor appointments, and supplier management.
  • Review subcontractor methodologies, programmes, and resource plans to ensure successful delivery.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and support the resolution of technical, commercial, and delivery challenges.
  • Review construction methodologies and RAMS, providing practical constructability input.
  • Monitor progress against programme milestones and support project controls, reporting, forecasting, and risk management activities.
  • Participate in technical workshops, coordination meetings, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Support safe working practices, quality standards, and continuous improvement across the project.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
