SENIOR MECHANICAL PROJECT MANAGER
Location: London
Salary: £95,000–£110,000 + Comprehensive Package
Employer: Leading Tier 1 MEP Contractor
The Opportunity
Outsource Construction is working in partnership with a leading Tier 1 MEP contractor to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager for a flagship project in London.
This is a senior delivery position offering responsibility for the mechanical services package from pre-construction and design coordination through to installation, commissioning and final handover.
The successful candidate will lead the mechanical delivery team, manage specialist subcontractors and work closely with the client, consultants and wider construction team. You will be accountable for ensuring the mechanical package is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the mechanical services package
- Manage the project from pre-construction and design development through to installation, commissioning and handover
- Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, procurement schedules and short-term delivery plans
- Lead and coordinate mechanical project managers, construction managers, engineers, supervisors and specialist subcontractors
- Monitor progress against programme and implement recovery plans where required
- Work closely with design teams and consultants to identify and resolve technical or coordination issues
- Review mechanical designs, technical submissions, drawings, specifications and builders’ work requirements
- Manage the procurement and delivery of major plant, equipment and subcontract packages
- Maintain control of project costs, variations, valuations and commercial reporting in conjunction with the commercial team
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with the contract, approved drawings, specifications and relevant industry standards
- Chair internal, subcontractor and client progress meetings
- Produce accurate project reports covering programme, commercial performance, design, procurement, quality and risk
- Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
- Oversee quality assurance processes, inspections, testing and the close-out of defects
- Coordinate commissioning activities and ensure all systems are ready for testing, witnessing and handover
- Manage the preparation of operating and maintenance manuals, as-built information and final project documentation
- Build and maintain professional relationships with the client, main contractor, consultants and supply-chain partners
- Support the development of junior project team members and promote a collaborative working environment

Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrable experience delivering large and technically complex mechanical packages
- A strong background working for an established MEP or building services contractor
- Previous experience in a Senior Mechanical Project Manager or comparable project leadership position
- Experience within major commercial, data centre, life sciences, shell and core or high-specification fit-out environments would be advantageous
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services, including HVAC, public health, heating, cooling and associated control systems
- Experience managing projects through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and specialist subcontractors
- Strong understanding of project programming, commercial management and risk control
- Excellent communication, leadership and client-facing skills
- A relevant qualification in mechanical engineering, building services or construction management
- Current industry health and safety qualifications
- A structured, commercially aware and solutions-focused approach to project delivery
