Senior Mechanical Test Engineer

About the Role

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Test Engineer to join a global manufacturing organisation and afford the flexibility to support both ongoing production or customer warranty concerns and be responsible for design validation and product and testing in a laboratory environment.

Are you an experienced Test Engineer looking to develop your career within an automotive product testing environment and take responsibility for mentoring a team of Technicians and Junior Engineers? This role offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary test facility, supporting customer projects through test preparation, execution, data collection and reporting.

Duties

  • Preparing and setting up test equipment, instrumentation and components.
  • Assisting with the development of test methods, procedures, rigs and fixtures.
  • Carrying out testing in line with customer requirements, engineering standards and safety procedures.
  • Collecting and reviewing test data, supporting technical reports and project documentation.
  • Producing risk assessments and ensuring testing is completed safely.
  • Working closely with engineers, technicians and customers to resolve technical challenges.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities across the test facility

Experience

Applications are sought from experienced Mechanical Test Engineers or Laboratory Engineers or Automotive Engineers with practical experience gained with product testing and validation

  • Experience working in a test, laboratory, workshop or engineering environment, setting up and performing mechanical testing of components and systems
  • Familiar with instrumentation, data acquisition systems and test equipment incorporating pressure, flow, temperature, fluid control and sealing solutions
  • Qualified to HND/ Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automotive engineering, or similar engineering discipline
  • Strong attention to detail, good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Able to mentor and lead a team or junior engineers and technicians in a laboratory environment
