Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Acute Medical Dietitian to join our friendly and supportive Dietetics team. This full-time role provides a varied, complex caseload, with acute medical wards and the coronary care unit as key working areas.
You will work autonomously as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering specialist nutritional assessment and intervention, contributing to complex feeding decisions, and coordinating safe tube-feeding discharges with patients, carers, community teams and enteral feeding providers.
One day each week will be dedicated to outpatient clinics or service innovation. You will also support junior staff and students and contribute to teaching, audit, quality improvement and evidence-based service development.

Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist, evidence-based assessment and intervention across acute medical wards, managing and prioritising a complex caseload autonomously.
- Develop, monitor and review individualised oral and enteral nutrition plans in response to changing clinical needs.
- Contribute specialist dietetic advice to multidisciplinary discussions and complex feeding decisions, including medical, nutritional and ethical considerations.
- Work with patients, carers and hospital, community and provider teams to deliver coordinated, person-centred nutrition care.
- Lead complex tube-feeding discharges, ensuring safe regimens, patient and carer training, prescriptions, equipment, supplies, clear handover and community follow-up.
- Identify and escalate barriers that could delay discharge or compromise nutritional safety.
- Supervise and mentor junior Dietitians, support workers and students, providing teaching and support with complex cases.
- Undertake weekly outpatient activity or service innovation and contribute to audit, quality improvement, evaluation and sustainable pathway development.

- Recognised degree or post graduate diploma in nutrition and dietetics or equivalent
- HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Student supervision training
- Attendance of relevant clinical courses
Skills and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Advanced communication
- Training and clinical supervision of students/colleagues
- MDT working
- Ability to work in an acute setting; time management, prioritisation, resilience in acute pressures
Experience

- Relevant post registration clinical dietetic experience
