Senior Medical Affairs Director
London (Hybrid 2 days per week) | Specialty Pharmaceutical Company

Allerton Bishop is partnering with an ambitious specialty pharmaceutical company to appoint a Senior Medical Affairs Director based in London, UK.
This is a high-profile leadership opportunity for an experienced Medical Affairs professional who thrives at both strategic and operational levels. Working across multiple therapeutic areas, you will define and execute the global Medical Affairs strategy, ensuring scientific excellence while driving meaningful engagement with healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders, and internal stakeholders.
You will play a pivotal role in bridging Clinical Development, Commercial, and Market Access functions, ensuring medical strategy supports both product lifecycle management and future portfolio growth.
Responsibilities
As Senior Medical Affairs Director, you will:
- Develop and implement the global Medical Affairs strategy across multiple therapeutic areas.
- Lead the execution of medical plans throughout the product lifecycle, from launch preparation through to lifecycle optimisation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with international Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), investigators, and scientific societies.
- Provide strategic medical leadership to cross-functional teams including Commercial, Market Access, Clinical Development, and Regulatory Affairs.
- Ensure all Medical Affairs activities are delivered in accordance with ethical, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Lead scientific communication strategy including congress activity, advisory boards, publications, and medical education programmes.
- Provide medical insight to support business development opportunities, portfolio expansion, and product differentiation.
- Generate and communicate medical evidence that supports patient outcomes and commercial success.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Medical Affairs team while fostering a collaborative, patient-focused culture.
- Represent Medical Affairs within senior leadership discussions, contributing to overall business strategy.

Candidate Profile
We are seeking an accomplished Medical Affairs leader who combines strategic thinking with the ability to successfully execute complex medical initiatives.
You will demonstrate:
- Significant Medical Affairs leadership experience within the pharmaceutical or specialty pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience developing and implementing medical strategy across multiple therapeutic areas.
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and launch excellence.
- Proven success partnering with Commercial, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Market Access functions.
- Experience building trusted relationships with international KOLs and external scientific stakeholders.
- Advanced scientific qualification (MD, PharmD, or PhD preferred).
