Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced individual to join our Respiratory Services team, providing comprehensive administrative and secretarial support within the Medical Directorate.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality administrative service to respiratory consultants, junior medical staff, specialist nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who thrives in a busy environment and is committed to delivering exceptional support services.

Applicants should have well-developed typing and keyboard skills and ideally hold an RSA Stage 3 qualification (or equivalent experience). Candidates who do not currently meet this qualification requirement but are willing to undertake the necessary training and development to achieve this standard will also be considered.

Applicants who do not currently hold the essential qualifications but can demonstrate relevant experience and a commitment to undertake appropriate training and development to achieve the required standards will be considered. Where applicable, appointments may be made under Annex 21 arrangements in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to funding

Main Duties of the Job

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, using discretion, judgement, and initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keen eye for detail, with the ability to process and generate urgent and routine correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer care at all times.
  • Flexible approach to work to meet the demands of the service.
  • Ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

Essential Criteria

  • NVQ Business administration L4 or equivalent experience
  • City & Guilds (AMSPAR) Level 3 Diploma in Medical administration or equivalent medical secretary experience
  • RSA /OCR level 3 or equivalent experience or qualification in typing
  • ECDL or equivalent experience
