The role
Reporting to a Senior Scientific Director, as a Senior Medical Writer, you'll take a leading role across a diverse portfolio of medical communications projects. These projects include websites, MOA videos, symposia, booths, internal educational materials, and strategy documents. You'll develop scientific content from concept through to final delivery, while also providing strategic and scientific input to the wider account team.
Your work could span a range of channels and formats, including:
- Manuscripts, abstracts and posters
- Congress materials and scientific presentations
- Advisory board and expert meeting materials
- Medical education and disease-awareness programmes

You'll work across a growing portfolio of solid tumor indications.
What you'll do
As a Senior Medical Writer, you will:
- Lead the development of scientifically accurate and engaging medical communications.
- Interpret and critically evaluate complex scientific and clinical data, identifying the main insights and messages.
- Develop content from brief through to final approval, ensuring a high standard of scientific and editorial quality.

- Build trusted relationships with clients, healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders and external experts.
- Attend and contribute to client meetings, advisory boards, congresses and other scientific meetings.
- Provide scientific and strategic input into project planning and programme development.
- Work with account management, strategy, creative and editorial colleagues to deliver integrated communications.
- Review and critically edit the work of other writers, providing constructive feedback and maintaining high scientific and editorial standards.
- Support and mentor more junior members of the writing team.
- Contribute to new business opportunities, pitches and proposals.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
