Senior Medical/Wards Nurse
Location: Bury St Edmunds
Hours: Minimum 30hrs/wk (over at least 3 days)
Rota: Day shifts / Weekend rota participation required
Salary: £33,000 per annum FTE
About the Role:
Veterinary Nurse to become Senior Medical & Wards Nurse at Swayne & Partners Bury St Edmunds.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an RVN looking to develop their clinical leadership skills and further their knowledge and experience within a busy hospital environment. Our practice provides care for a varied and complex inpatient caseload, allowing nurses to develop their skills across a broad range of medical and surgical patients.
You will have the opportunity to support and develop high standards of inpatient nursing care, working closely with the wider veterinary team to deliver excellent patient care and promote continued development of the ward nursing service.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside and collaborate with the Ward manager
- Deliver high standards of patient care
- Develop nursing care plans
- Improve patient handovers
- Audit inpatient records
- Introduce nursing initiatives (pain scoring, nutrition, catheter care etc.)
- Mentor SVNs
- Support ICU/high dependency cases
- Liaise with vets regarding nursing plans
- Improve patient welfare standards
- Maintain accurate clinical records
- Provide excellent client communication and support
- Work collaboratively with vets, nurses, VCAs, and reception teams
- Contribute to maintaining high clinical and hygiene standards throughout the practice

About You:
- Qualified and registered RVN
- Is a positive role model and can lead by example
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Is proactive, adaptable, and compassionate
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to patient care and clinical excellence
- Has an interest in developing advanced nursing skills
- Able to commit to at least 30hr week across a minimum of 3 days and participate in the weekend rota.
