About The Role
Supporting young people and changing futures.
You’re someone who cares deeply about making a difference, not just today, but for a young person’s future.
As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you’ll join our Early Intervention and Targeted Support Service in North Derbyshire, providing prevention, early intervention and targeted mental health and emotional wellbeing support across community and education settings.
You’ll support children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties, carrying out assessments, managing a caseload and delivering structured, evidence based and therapy informed interventions.
You’ll use outcome measures to inform clinical decisions, respond to risk and safeguarding concerns, and help children, young people and families access the right support at the right time.
As a senior practitioner, you’ll also provide specialist advice, consultation and training, alongside clinical supervision and professional support to colleagues.
Ready to use your experience to make a real difference? We’d love to hear from you.
About You
You’re an experienced practitioner with a genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.
You’ll bring:
- A relevant professional or clinical qualification - EMHP, CWP, PMHW, Senior EMHP, Mental Health Nursing, Learning Disability Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work.
- At least two years’ experience of working therapeutically with children and young people, with experience of clinical development and engaging effectively with families and carers.
- Experience of risk assessment, risk management and safeguarding within clinical services.
- Experience of line management and/or clinical supervision, with a postgraduate certificate in supervision or equivalent, or willingness to undertake this.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities, plan and prioritise your workload and support colleagues.
- A collaborative and adaptable approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, young people, families, education settings and partner agencies.
- A solution focused, reflective and resilient approach, with a strong sense of personal integrity and commitment to your professional development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
