We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Recovery Worker to play a vital role in providing support at our Pathfinder Service.

About:

As a Senior Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will be working for a people-led organisation whose mission and values is to inspire change across Sussex.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Pathfinder Service. BHT Sussex is the lead provider of mental health support across West Sussex https://www.pathfinderwestsussex.org.uk, working closely with community partners, primary care and NHS mental health services.

You will be joining a passionate team who work together to support individuals with mental health needs across West Sussex.

As a Senior Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will provide recovery-focused one-to-one and group interventions, undertake initial discussions and risk assessments, and manage a small caseload of clients. You will support individuals in identifying their needs and goals, taking a holistic and person-centred approach to address both social and psychological challenges. Working collaboratively with clients, you will help them access local community services and other sources of support that promote recovery, independence, and wellbeing.

Alongside direct client work, you will provide day-to-day supervision and support to a small number of Mental Health Recovery Workers, promoting high standards of practice, staff wellbeing, and professional development.

You will be committed to delivering high-quality preventative mental health interventions and will have experience of working with vulnerable people using empowering, strengths-based approaches. Excellent communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills are essential, as is the ability to balance client-facing responsibilities with supervisory duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage and support the wellbeing and work of Pathfinder and BeOK Service staff, including supervision and appraisal in agreement with the Pathfinder Service Manager.
  • Assess client needs and risks using standard framework and processes.
  • Work with clients to develop personalised support plans.
  • Deliver and co-facilitate group activities, if applicable.
  • Assist client access to other support services and resources including supporting with referrals.

Person Specification:

To be successful in the role of a Senior Mental Health Recovery Worker you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of BHT Sussex. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:

  • Experience of working in mental health, social care, or community development services.
  • Experience of supporting individuals to complete person-centred mental health recovery plans based on their own goals and aspirations.
  • A good understanding of the needs of the clients/individuals/communities relevant to Pathfinder Services.
  • Ability to work proactively and effectively both independently and as a team member.
  • Professional boundaries; safeguarding, accountability, and confidentiality within the workplace.
