Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an MEP Senior Cost Manager to join our Real Estate team in London, supporting clients in the delivery of projects and programmes across a variety of sectors.
The role will be responsible for leading Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) cost management activities within larger projects or delivering standalone MEP commissions, such as asset upgrade programmes.
This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously, working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include establishing early budgets and estimates, developing cost plans, supporting design teams in achieving budget objectives, managing tendering and procurement processes (single-stage and two-stage), and delivering post-contract reporting.
The role also includes supporting, coaching and overseeing Assistant Cost Managers and Cost Managers within the MEP team.

A strong understanding of MEP systems and supply chains is essential, together with the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors and specialist supply chain partners.
The successful applicant will also contribute to the development of colleagues, support the advancement of MEP digital systems and tools, promote MEP capabilities across Turner & Townsend, and engage with the wider MEP community, including engineers, contractors and manufacturers.
Key Accountabilities
Commission Management (either as part of a larger project or leading a direct MEP commission)
- Support feasibility studies and prepare procurement reports.
- Produce estimates and cost plans, including the preparation and presentation of final cost plans to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage tendering and procurement activities, including pre-qualification processes for both single-stage and two-stage procurement routes.
- Manage post-contract cost variations and change control processes.
- Undertake cost checks and valuations, ensuring accurate and timely cost management and reporting.
- Produce and present monthly post-contract cost reports.
- Contribute to value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Negotiate and agree final accounts.
- Collaborate with clients, consultants and project stakeholders throughout all project stages.
- Where appropriate, lead cost management teams and support the successful delivery of project objectives and responsibilities.
Qualifications
Experience and Skills
- A proven track record of delivering high quality cost management/quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle
- Professionally qualified (RICS or similar) or working towards
- Degree or HNC level qualification
- Ability to successfully manage and prioritise more than one project at a time.
- Experience in delivering MEP elements of work for clients
- Knowledge & contacts within the MEP supply chain (tier 1 and below)
- Utilising digital software for delivery of cost management services
- Commercially astute with good negotiation skills
- Excellent people person and great communicator, both client facing and team based
