Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire
Salary: Up to £120,000 + Package
Employment: Permanent
I’m working with a leading Tier 1 MEP contractor seeking an experienced Senior M&E Project Manager / Project Director to take a key leadership position on a major rail infrastructure project in Banbury.
This is a senior delivery role with responsibility for a significant MEP package, leading the project team and taking ownership of the scheme across programme, commercial performance, technical delivery, client relationships, and overall project success.
The business is open to candidates from either an Electrical or Mechanical bias. Rail experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential — they are happy to consider strong senior project professionals from other major MEP environments, including commercial, healthcare, data centres, and complex infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the successful delivery of a major MEP package on a large-scale rail infrastructure project.
- Manage and develop the wider project team, including engineering, construction, and commercial functions.
- Take ownership of programme, budget, quality, health & safety, and overall project performance.
- Manage mechanical and electrical packages from pre-construction/design coordination through installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, consultants, supply chain, and key project stakeholders.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, procurement, and project resourcing.
- Work closely with commercial teams to manage project costs, change, risk, and opportunities.
- Lead project meetings and provide clear reporting to senior management.
- Identify potential programme and delivery risks early and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Drive a collaborative, high-performance culture across the project team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
