Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEPH) - Kier Mechanical & Electrical Team
Location: Darlington, North East Region
Hours: Full-time - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Kier Mechanical & Electrical (KME), our internal MEP self-delivery design and build business supporting regional construction businesses across the UK. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in managing commercial resources and maximising project success across a range of challenging and complex projects in sectors including Custodial, Commercial, Health & Science.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEPH), you'll be working within the Kier Mechanical & Electrical Team, supporting them in delivering successful project outcomes through effective commercial management. Your day-to-day will include:
- Managing commercial resources to maximise planned gross margin through placement and control of contracts and subcontracts
- Undertaking valuations, measuring change, and producing monthly cost reports and forecasts
- Leading procurement activities including subcontract enquiries, tender reviews, and order production
- Assessing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks while driving margin improvement
- Managing and mentoring junior commercial staff, fostering their development and wellbeing

What are we looking for?
This role of Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEPH) is great for you if:
- You hold a degree or HND/HNC in Quantity Surveying and possess SMSTS/CSCS card
- You have demonstrable experience as a surveyor delivering schemes with a clear understanding of contract forms such as JCT and NEC
- You have technical understanding of MEPH services, components, and package interfaces
- You're a proactive problem solver who can work independently, handle multiple tasks, and build strong relationships
- You hold a Full driving licence
