We’re seeking a Senior Merchandiser to join us on a maternity cover, responsible for trading the product department, taking actions forward into future seasons and also optimising the current season through OTB management.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyse performance and understand sales & customer trends to anticipate future product needs.
  • Collate, interpret and summarise data to clearly articulate recommendations that aid key commercial decisions.
  • Understand the make-up of each range, the best sellers and actions required to protect sales.
  • Work closely with Buyers to ensure range, price and supply is optimised.
  • Own sales volume forecasts and proactively communicate with supply chain to deliver stock availability.
  • Ensure forecasts reflect seasonal profile and are in line with campaign activity.
  • Responsible for trading the department, taking actions forward into future seasons and also optimising the current season through OTB management and addressing terminal stock issues proactively (where applicable).
  • Along with the Buyer and Design functions, be accountable for the progression of the range, both in the UK and Internationally, using sales analysis and feedback from external parties.
  • Work closely with all functions to ensure the launch of new lines and promotions land right first time.
  • Constant review of existing processes to drive positive change and ways of working.
  • Plan range width, depth and content to optimise profitability in the context of New Goods whilst supporting the overall retail offer.
  • Support senior management, the buying team, E Commerce, field staff and other key stakeholders by providing relevant and accurate data to inform decision making.
  • WSSI management/maintenance.
  • Critical Path Management.
  • Clearance and Markdown plans in conjunction with buying.
  • Stock analysis to drive stock health actions.
  • Trade the business commercially and pro-actively using the merchandising tools available including effective analysis, pricing and distribution in particular.
  • Manage the planning and forecasting process from line level up to product category OTBs to drive profits whilst minimising costs and risks.
  • Plan and manage multi-channel distribution controlling and effectively utilising stocks.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven track record and experience at Merchandiser level
  • Highly numerate, accurate and able to interpret analysis commercially.
  • Advanced Excel skills a must.
  • A skilled communicator with strong influencing skills and able to back opinions with the relevant facts.
  • Able to manage a high number of tasks and ascertain priorities to achieve competing deadlines whilst always retaining a focus on profitability.
  • Innovative, resilient and always looking for improvement on existing practices.
