Senior M&A Associate

Finatal is partnered with a high-growth, entrepreneurial platform operating at the intersection of energy markets, trading, and strategic investment, seeking a Senior M&A Associate to support its expansion across the European energy ecosystem. The platform combines capital, deep sector expertise, and operational capability to acquire, build, and scale businesses aligned to the energy transition, with a strong emphasis on active value creation.

This is a full-cycle role within a corporate investing environment, offering exposure across origination, execution, and post-investment strategy. You will work closely with senior leadership and portfolio businesses, gaining hands-on experience across both principal investing and strategic initiatives.

  • Engage with management teams, founders, and intermediaries to evaluate investment and acquisition opportunities across energy and adjacent sectors
  • Support pipeline development through market mapping, thematic research, and target identification across key subsectors
  • Conduct early-stage analysis including commercial evaluation, financial review, and strategic fit assessment
  • Build financial models, valuation analyses, and transaction structures to support investment decisions
  • Coordinate and support end-to-end due diligence across financial, commercial, and operational workstreams
  • Prepare high-quality investment materials, including memos, board presentations, and strategic recommendations
  • Manage interactions with advisors and internal stakeholders through to transaction completion
  • Support post-investment initiatives, including performance tracking, governance frameworks, and value creation planning
  • Partner with portfolio companies on strategic and operational improvements, driving commercial and growth initiatives

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience across;
    • Investment Banking (M&A / Energy / Industrials)
    • Private Equity / Growth Equity / Venture Capital
    • Big 4 (Transaction Services or M&A with strong financial grounding)
    • Corporate Development in a relevant sector
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skillset
  • Experience preparing high-quality presentations for senior stakeholders
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, structured insights
  • Commercial judgment and an investor mindset
  • High attention to detail and execution discipline
