Our client is a North Sea operator currently recruiting for a staff position of Senior Metering Engineer based in Aberdeen
The Role
As Senior Metering Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for metering across the company’s operated assets, while supporting assurance activities for non-operated assets. This is a pivotal role that helps safeguard measurement accuracy, regulatory compliance and the integrity of our production reporting, ensuring our assets continue to operate safely and efficiently.
Acting as a recognised subject matter expert, you will be the focal point for fiscal, allocation and process metering, helping to resolve complex measurement challenges and providing trusted guidance to operational, maintenance and project teams. Strong Communication will be essential as you collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
You will lead assurance activities including metering audits, vendor oversight and risk management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Through your technical authority and attention to detail, you will help maintain confidence in our measurement systems and processes.
The role also offers the opportunity to drive continuous improvement. From developing maintenance strategies and addressing equipment obsolescence to identifying opportunities that enhance efficiency and production performance, you will play an important part in supporting the long-term success of our assets. A commitment to Learning and continuous improvement will be key.

What we are looking for in potential candidates:
We are looking for an experienced metering professional who combines strong technical expertise with sound judgement, stakeholder influence and a commitment to safe and compliant operations.
Leadership & Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and assurance across fiscal, allocation and process metering activities.
- Act as the key point of contact for metering audits, regulatory compliance and third-party assurance providers.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of measurement issues, balancing operational, commercial and compliance requirements.
- Influence operational, maintenance and project teams through expert advice and collaborative working.
- Drive reliability, performance improvement and risk reduction initiatives across metering systems.
- Support engineering studies, asset modifications and management of change activities, ensuring adherence to recognised standards and best practice.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree qualified in an engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Significant experience in metering, measurement systems and field instrumentation within the energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of relevant metering regulations, industry codes and technical standards.
- Experience managing third-party vendors, contractors and technical service providers.
- Commercial awareness, including budget management and cost control responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex problems, manage risk and deliver practical engineering solutions.
