Department: Internal Technology
Location: Oxford, UK
Description
Based in our Oxford office, you will join the Engineering Team within Internal Technology. The team is responsible for the design, delivery, continual improvement, and escalation support of the core services that provide Aurora's staff with the processes, tools and technology needed to perform their best work.
Reporting into the Architecture and Engineering function, you will work as a proactive senior engineer providing deep expertise and proven delivery experience across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem — including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and the underlying identity and network services that connect them. The successful candidate will take ownership of projects and operational improvements by ensuring attention to detail, contributing to the documentation, enriching governance, and developing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that keep our environment running well.
You should be comfortable working independently and with your team, as you contribute to the completion of each Sprint. You will be proactively identifying opportunities to improve Aurora’s technology environment. You will bring a level of maturity and experience that elevates the team’s overall capability and shapes how we deliver technology at Aurora. This role also requires working directly with business users and Internal Technology colleagues to understand requirements, design effective solutions, and help drive efficiency for a better employee experience across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to join Aurora at a key stage of growth, as we continue to expand internationally and mature our technology landscape to meet the needs of a dynamic, data-driven business.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Excellence: Deploy a proactive, detail focused, relentless engineering mindset to implement processes that empower the Internal Technology function to serve Aurora. Lead by example, sharing your technical knowledge, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to the professional and operational growth of the wider Internal Technology team.
- Microsoft Technology Expertise: Advise, collaborate, design and implement well engineered, best practice aligned solutions across Microsoft technologies, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Windows, Entra ID, Intune / Microsoft Endpoint Manager. Stay up to date with the evolving Microsoft technology landscape and provide strategic insights on integrating new solutions.
- Efficiency and Employee Experience: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise Microsoft technology configuration in alignment with business goals. Enhance employee experience by ensuring seamless and efficient utilisation of Microsoft tools to facilitate productivity and collaboration.
- Project Delivery: Lead in projects that enhance or extend the technology landscape within the organisation. Work with Project Managers and stakeholders to gather requirements, design robust solutions, manage technical risk, implement changes, and ensure successful project outcomes.
- System Ownership: Take ownership of specific systems and platforms within the Microsoft ecosystem. Leverage your deep technical expertise to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and maintain a high level of system availability in conjunction with the IT support function within the team.
- Governance & Documentation: Actively develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge articles. Contribute to raising the bar for documentation quality and operational governance within the team, ensuring our environment is well-understood and consistently managed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
