Senior Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant

Finance | Operations | Configuration

Location: Milton Keynes (3-4 days per week onsite)
Contract: Outside IR35
Initial 6-month contract (likely extension)
Rate: Competitive

We are looking for a Senior Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant to take ownership of an established Business Central environment following a recent implementation. This is a hands-on functional consultancy role for someone who is equally comfortable engaging with business stakeholders, mapping end-to-end processes and configuring Business Central to deliver practical business solutions. You'll play a key role in stabilising and optimising the ERP platform across Finance, Operations and Warehouse functions, ensuring the system is configured to support current business needs while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to meet business requirements
  • Review, optimise and implement Finance, Operations and Warehouse processes
  • Investigate and resolve Business Central functional issues
  • Analyse and resolve COGS, GRNI, inventory valuation and financial posting issues
  • Configure Finance, Purchasing, Inventory and Warehouse modules
  • Review and optimise system configuration, workflows and posting setups
  • Map current ("As Is") and design future ("To Be") business processes
  • Identify process improvements and recommend best practice solutions
  • Produce functional specifications where development is required
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and solution validation
  • Work closely with Finance, Operations, Warehouse users and third-party partners
  • Provide ongoing functional support, guidance and knowledge transfer

About You

You'll be an experienced Business Central Functional Consultant with a proven track record of configuring and optimising Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environments. You'll have experience in:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC)
  • Hands-on Business Central configuration
  • Finance, General Ledger and Costing
  • Purchasing and Supply Chain
  • Warehouse Management
  • Inventory Management
  • Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
  • Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI)
  • Inventory valuation
  • End-to-end business process mapping
  • ERP optimisation and post-go-live support
  • Functional design and requirements gathering
  • Working alongside technical consultants and development teams
  • Stakeholder management across Finance and Operations
