Senior MMIC Design Engineer

Location: Sedgefield, County Durham

Working pattern: Hybrid working available

Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience

Visa Sponsorship: Available


A growing technology business operating across the space, aerospace, and defence sectors is looking for an experienced Senior MMIC Design Engineer to join its expanding engineering team.

You’ll design and develop high-performance MMIC solutions operating from 37GHz to 115GHz and beyond, taking projects from initial concept through simulation, layout, fabrication, and device verification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and layout MMICs using GaAs, GaN, and/or InP technologies
  • Develop RF circuits including PAs, LNAs, gain blocks, converters, attenuators, and frequency multipliers
  • Perform circuit simulation, optimisation, and design verification
  • Work closely with semiconductor foundries throughout fabrication
  • Characterise devices using probe stations and RF laboratory equipment
  • Support thermal analysis, reliability assessments, and technical design reviews
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to future technology development

Essential Experience

  • Significant commercial MMIC design experience within the semiconductor industry
  • Proven experience designing RF amplifiers, LNAs, or frequency-conversion circuits
  • Strong knowledge of GaAs and/or GaN MMIC HEMT technologies
  • Experience taking MMIC designs from concept through fabrication and verification
  • Hands-on RF measurement and device-characterisation experience
  • Degree, master’s, or PhD in Electronic, RF, or Microwave Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
