Senior Modelling Analyst

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Modelling Analyst to join the Data & Analytics team, NHS Wales Performance and Improvement. We are looking for a proactive and ambitious candidate with skills in operational research, modelling, data science and/or management science. This is an interesting and diverse role, offering prospects for personal development and career progression.

The work will be wide ranging and varied as the team is tasked with delivering modelling projects and providing advice to the range of Directorates within NHS Wales Performance and Improvement. The successful candidate will work in the Operational Research and Modelling team to support the delivery of modelling projects, provide advice and expertise on problem structuring, the model development process, and analysis and presentation of findings, in line with the delivery of Welsh Government and NHS Wales priorities.

About the Role

The Data & Analytics team encompasses data, analysis, information and knowledge, ensuring decision makers have the right intelligence at the right time to improve the quality, efficacy and efficiency of services to improve patient experience, safety and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day role will require you to have a vast array of skills in areas including analytics, mathematical modelling, data visualisation, negotiation and communication to deliver high-profile projects that meet the team’s objectives. Where applicable, you will be given a range of responsibilities which may include developing expertise on a specific dataset, analytical method, programming language or modelling tool. You will also work alongside colleagues in the Data and Analytics team, and other senior colleagues ensuring the team embraces innovative techniques to be at the forefront of operational research and modelling in Wales.

Desirable Skills

  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
