Senior Money Laundering Liaison Officer
Join us as a Senior Money Laundering Liaison Officer and play a key role in strengthening our first line Financial Crime capability. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team at a time of significant transformation, where you'll act as a subject matter expert, supporting colleagues across Anti-Money Laundering (AML) workstreams while helping to shape the future of the function. Working closely with management and stakeholders across the business, you'll provide expert guidance, influence best practice and contribute to delivering a strong financial crime framework within a priority area of the organisation.
In this varied role, you'll work across customer due diligence, business banking and financial crime operations, including supporting activity arising from our new customer due diligence system. You'll handle complex case escalations, provide coaching and technical support to colleagues, review processes and controls, and help drive continuous improvement across the department. You'll also play an important part in delivering key financial crime objectives through your expertise in sanctions, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), customer risk assessments and broader AML activity, while using your analytical skills to identify risks, draw meaningful conclusions and communicate recommendations clearly and effectively.
About You
We're looking for someone with strong financial crime and business banking experience, excellent regulatory knowledge and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment. A keen eye for detail, strong prioritisation skills and the confidence to support and develop others will be essential. A Financial Crime qualification, such as an ICA Certificate in Anti-Money Laundering, would be advantageous. In return, you'll have the opportunity to grow your career within a newly structured team, influence its development and make a meaningful impact in an area of increasing strategic importance.
Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
This is an opportunity to become a trusted expert within the team, providing day-to-day guidance and support on Financial Crime policy, regulation and best practice. Acting as a key point of contact for colleagues and management, you'll work closely with specialist teams across the business to interpret regulatory requirements, resolve complex queries and ensure a consistent approach to managing financial crime risks.
You'll use your expertise to drive continuous improvement, strengthen capability across the team and support the successful implementation of change. The role also involves reviewing the effectiveness of controls and contingency processes, identifying and escalating risks where necessary, and ensuring operational practices remain aligned with policy, regulatory expectations and industry standards. Alongside this, you'll support customer outreach activity through both inbound and outbound telephone engagement, helping to deliver positive customer outcomes while maintaining a strong focus on financial crime prevention and compliance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
