Senior National Account Manager – Discount Retail

Food Manufacturing | National Accounts | Hybrid Working

We’re working with a successful and growing food manufacturing business that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior National Account Manager to manage and develop its relationships with leading national discount retailers.

This is a high-profile commercial role with responsibility for a significant portfolio of established accounts. You’ll take full ownership of the customer strategy, working closely with buying teams to deliver profitable growth, strengthen relationships and identify new opportunities across the product portfolio.

The role

  • Manage and develop existing relationships with major national discount retailers
  • Create and deliver strategic joint business plans
  • Take ownership of sales, margin, forecasting and account profitability
  • Lead commercial negotiations, tenders, pricing discussions and promotional plans
  • Identify opportunities to increase distribution, listings and customer penetration
  • Use customer, category and market insight to build compelling commercial proposals
  • Work closely with category, marketing, supply chain, finance and NPD teams
  • Provide accurate forecasts and regular commercial performance updates
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the customer

  • Proven experience managing major grocery or discount retail accounts within food or FMCG
  • A strong track record of delivering profitable account growth
  • Commercially astute, with excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Confident managing complex customer P&Ls, forecasts and commercial plans
  • Strategic in your approach, while remaining comfortable with the day-to-day detail
  • Collaborative, ambitious and comfortable working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
