We have a fantastic opportunity based at our Gatwick site, to join our Purina Sales team as Senior National Account Manager in the Value Retail team. This really is an exciting and challenging opportunity, which will see you demonstrate your leadership skills and the delivery of a profitable share winning plan by creating, selling and executing joint business plans with our Value Retail customers.
Your impact
As Senior National Account Manager, you will have responsibility for the full management and accountability of the customer/category/format P&L, including Sales Revenue, Trade Spend, Promotional ROI, Market Share and Profit targets. You will work closely with experienced colleagues within the Customer Business Team and the Category Development Team to deliver growth and market share. Key responsibilities will include:
- Develop and lead the negotiation of the annual Customer Business Plans which deliver against internal and external strategies & KPI
- Analysing of data sets (EPOS, Nielson, CIM, SRM) to build commercial plans which optimise KPI delivery
- The timely and accurate execution of Customer Plans, providing excellent communication to Customers, completing all required internal and external documentation and alignment to ensure perfect execution of customer plans
- Lead Customer Contact Strategy and build powerful relationships cross functionally at appropriate levels
- Accountable for the indirect leadership of Category and Marketing teams to facilitate best in class category strategies & activation. Use well developed skills to facilitate best in class selling stories, in-store activation and promotional performance
- Work with category team to ensure successful delivery of strategic NPD in agreed distribution
- Deploy customer, shopper and category insight to identify optimum portfolio mix for the customer and shopper. Lead cross functional teams to deliver portfolio range for customer.
- Own and develop promotional plan to include revenue, trade spend & promotion activation details including, timing, mechanics & estimated amount sold on deal (uplift &/or total)
- The timely participation and input into all relevant internal planning processes (weekly, monthly and quarterly) / MBP. Utilise multiple data sets to create guidance to build understanding of external performance dynamics

Your ingredients for success
To be successful, you’ll already have a fantastic breadth of sales or commercial experience within FMCG categories. A strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness and excellent numeracy skills, you’ll be able to communicate persuasively and credibly to multiple stakeholders internally as well to customers externally. You will need to demonstrate a proactive, entrepreneurial and innovative mind-set.
Essential
- Customer leadership/P&L experience
- Demonstrate agile thinking and inspirational leadership as we shape our plans to win in this dynamic marketplace
- Category management knowledge
- Previous management of a large trade spend budget is critical
- Negotiating skills and experience of managing complexity and ambiguity
- Naturally curious, crucial that you be able to take the initiative when faced with any obstacle
- Ability to manage and lead structured negotiations is essential
- Results focused & highly driven
